(Basics of Computer, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet)

Q1. Perform the following tasks using MS Word, MS PowerPoint and Internet as specified below. [40 Marks]
A) MS Word – Formal Letter and Formatting
  1. Open MS Word and type a formal application letter (8–10 lines) to the Principal of “MSEDC College” requesting permission to conduct an IT seminar.
  2. Apply suitable font, font size 12, bold heading, line spacing 1.5 and proper left/right margins.
  3. Insert a header with the text “CCIT Practical – MS Word” and a footer with page number in the center.
  4. Save the document as Seminar_Application.docx in the folder given by the examiner.
B) MS PowerPoint – Short Presentation
  1. Create a new PowerPoint presentation named Computer_Basics.pptx.
  2. Prepare minimum 4 slides on the topic “Basics of Computers”:
    • Slide 1: Title slide with presentation title and your name.
    • Slide 2: Definition of computer and main characteristics (bulleted list).
    • Slide 3: Types of computers or applications of computers (bulleted list).
    • Slide 4: Basic components of a computer system (input, output, storage).
  3. Apply a suitable design theme, add at least one picture/clipart and use slide transition on all slides.
C) Internet – Search and Screenshot
  1. Open a web browser and search for “Uses of Internet in Education”.
  2. Open any one relevant website from the search results and note the page title and URL.
  3. Take a screenshot of the page and paste it into a new MS Word document named Internet_Uses.docx along with 3 bullet points summarizing what you learned.

Q2. Perform the following tasks using MS Excel and basic computer/file management operations. [40 Marks]
A) MS Excel – Student Result Sheet
  1. Create a workbook and a worksheet named Result.
  2. Create a table with the following columns: Roll No, Student Name, Marks in Computer, Marks in English, Marks in Maths, Total, Percentage, Result.
  3. Enter data for at least 5 students (marks out of 100 for each subject).
  4. Use formulas to calculate:
    • Total = sum of three subjects for each student.
    • Percentage = (Total / 300) * 100.
  5. Use an IF formula in the Result column to display “Pass” if Percentage ≥ 40, otherwise “Fail”.
  6. Apply formatting: bold headings, borders to the table, different background color for header row and two decimal places for Percentage.
B) MS Excel – Sorting and Chart
  1. Sort the data in descending order of Percentage.
  2. Create a column chart showing Student Name on X-axis and Percentage on Y-axis.
  3. Give an appropriate chart title “Student Performance (%)”.
C) Basic Computer / File Management
  1. Create a new folder on the Desktop named CCIT_Practical.
  2. Save all your practical files from Q1 and Q2 (Word, PowerPoint and Excel files) inside this folder.
  3. Rename any one file as instructed by the examiner (for example, change Result.xlsx to Result_April2026.xlsx).
